My story
Ash and his nearly identical twin sister, Ember are a pair of bonded special needs kittens. These two little fluff balls are sweet social babies who are looking for a very special family who is able to give them their very best life. Ash and Ember are part of a littler of four kittens that were bottle fed after they were rescued from a house fire in early January. As they became older and mobile it was obvious that they had some issues with balance, and upon consultation with two vets they have been diagnosed with Cerebellar Hypoplasia. This is something that occurred while they were developing inside the mom cat while she was pregnant. Basically the cerebellum halted in its normal development and this is the part of the brain which controls balance.

The kittens can run and walk and climb, and jump to a certain degree, but their hind legs will often flop over or look as if they kind of just go out from under them.You can definitely see that they walk differently than other kitties.Ember is more affected than her brother with this, but it does not stop them from being happy playful rambunctious kitties! They feel no pain. This is a condition that will never improve or get worse. As they grow and their muscle strength improves they may learn to compensate more They just tend to wobble and need a home that understands how best to care for them.We are looking for these two kittens to stay together forever so please only apply if you are interested in BOTH Ash and Ember. We also want a home with slightly older children

who will not drop them inadvertently. Ideally if your home has some carpeting and is one level that would be great! If you are willing to use a baby gate to keep Ember from falling down the stairs that would be OK. Her brother can navigate them without a problem, but she can tumble and we do not want her to hurt herself by falling down a whole flight. As she gets older she will learn what she is capable of.These kittens are used to other cats, and do have two big dogs in their foster home.

They love the dogs, but these two dogs are under strict voice command and when they are in play mode, the kittens are not in the same room for safety-they cannot move as quickly as a normal kitten and we do not want them to be hurt if they get underfoot a couple of silly playful dogs.. Ember and Ash are super sweet and loving - very affectionate and loving kittens. They just need a family who understands they have some limitations, but not really many- and will be able to keep them safe as they grow in to adults.

They are playful and act as any other 10 week old kitten does- they are curious and friendly, and just a delight.
